Join us as we recognize the years of judicial service for Hon. Craig S. Strong and Hon. Ulysses W. Boykin.   Reginald Turner, President Elect of the American Bar Association and the Past President of the National Bar Association will dialogue with the honorees and highlight their years on the bench.

At the close of the evening, Chief Judge Timothy M. Kenny will present the years of service certificate.


Judge Craig S. Strong, a highly respected and widely known jurist. In 1978, Judge Strong was elected Judge of Detroit Recorder’s Court.  Judge Strong has remained on the bench ever since and currently sits on the Wayne County Circuit Court.  He is the longest serving judge on the bench.  Judge Strong has served as President of the Association of Black Judges of Michigan, President of the Wolverine Bar, and National Chair of the National Bar Association’s Judicial Council representing judges of color in the United States, Canada, and Caribbean Islands.  


Judge Ulysses W. Boykin received his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School where he was one of the founders of the Black Law Student Association.   Judge Boykin became the first African-American Attorney to practice at Dickinson, Wright in Detroit.  In 1999, Gov. John Engler appointed Judge Boykin to the Wayne County Circuit Court.  Judge Boykin has served as the Chairman of the Young Lawyers Section of the Detroit Bar Association, on the Board of the Wolverine Bar Association, and in various capacities for the Association of Black Judges of Michigan.
