The Detroit Bar Association’s Work Life Balance and Criminal Law Sections are pleased to partner with the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program to present this webinar  on stress management and vicarious trauma in the legal profession. Examine the relationship between vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Learn coping skills to use in moments of high stress or anxiety and how to protect yourself by setting healthy boundaries.

Presenter: Thomas J. Grden, Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program, State Bar of Michigan

Thomas J. Grden is an employee of the State Bar of Michigan, working as a Clinical Case Manager for the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program. He has experience working with impaired professionals, substance use disorders, and mental health diagnoses, and facilitates a weekly support group open to licensed attorneys. Mr. Grden presents regularly on topics pertaining to law student and lawyer wellbeing, and is an ICLE contributor. He holds a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on addictions, earned in 2017 from the University of Detroit Mercy.
