This presentation will cover the use of AI within the legal industry from the perspective of effectively managing the risks related to its use. This presentation is geared towards anyone in the legal profession, whether you are a judge, solo practitioner or a first year associate at a large firm. The presenter will give an overview of AI and pressing concerns and questions, including:

  • Confidentiality/privilege/information security
  • Copyright infringement/other IP infringement
  • Business continuity/vendor selection
  • Losing out (efficiency, client base) due to not utilizing AI
  • Knowing when to use AI
  • General risk management practices 

Please be prepared to ask detailed questions. There will be ample time provided for Q&A.

Presenter: Jillian Bommarito, Bommarito Consulting, LLP

Jillian is an expert in technology governance with over 15 years of experience in compliance and risk management across highly-regulated industries. As Executive Director and Head of Governance at the Institute for the Advancement of Legal and Ethical AI, she leads technical and policy research promoting responsible AI use, including open-source model development.

In her role as the Chief Risk Officer at 273 Ventures, she oversaw the world's first "Fairly Trained" certified LLM. Her work includes strategic AI consulting for global law firms, legal departments, and State Bars. Jillian holds CIPP/US and CIPP/E certifications from IAPP and is a licensed CPA, bringing a multifaceted approach to AI ethics and governance.
