Session #38: Nonpartisan Volunteer Opportunities for Lawyers During the November 2026 Election

    September 15, 2026

    12 – 1 p.m.
    Virtual Zoom Presentation
    Free – online Zoom

Promote the Vote Fund, one of the coordinators of Michigan’s Nonpartisan Election Protection Plan, is recruiting lawyer volunteers to support our efforts to ensure every eligible Michigander can vote during the November 2026 Election.

We are looking for attorneys to volunteer on the ground as nonpartisan challengers and affidavit collectors, as well as for the 866-OUR-VOTE nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline. Learn more below about our opportunities and how to sign up.

    Volunteer Opportunities:

We are recruiting attorneys for multiple volunteer roles. If you are interested, please sign up on our interest form

    • Nonpartisan Challengers & Affidavit Collectors (On the Ground) - We are training attorneys to be nonpartisan challengers and collect affidavits. Our pro-voter challengers use challengers’ special rights and responsibilities to help ensure that all eligible voters can vote by monitoring early voting sites and polling places, engaging directly with election workers, and reporting issues to our legal rapid response team. Attorney-challengers who take our affidavit training will be called during their challenger shift to collect an affidavit nearby from voters and other nonpartisan volunteers if needed.
    • 866-OUR-VOTE Nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline - We’re looking for lawyers to volunteer on the 866-OUR-VOTE nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline. Hotline volunteers answer live calls from Michigan voters and pro-voter volunteers on the ground, providing answers to basic questions and escalating issues to our legal rapid response team.

    Presenters:

    • Bailey Rechler - Voting Rights Counsel — Bailey Rechler is the Voting Rights Counsel with Promote the Vote Fund, where she supports the organization's efforts to promote civic participation and voter access. She holds a J.D. from the George Washington University and a B.A. in Political Science from UCLA. During law school, Bailey served as a legal intern with the Brennan Center for Justice and Common Cause.
    • Scott Allison - Director of Programming and Partnership — A graduate of Xavier University, with Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and History, and the University of Toledo College of Law, Scott joins Promote the Vote Fund after over a decade of political campaign experience in Cincinnati and the Southern Ohio region. Having managed issue campaigns, City Council, Judicial and Congressional races, Scott has seen, first hand, the importance access to the ballot has on all communities and backgrounds. Scott joins the Promote the Vote Fund team as the Programming & Partnerships Director to ensure everyone has unfettered access to the ballot box to exercise their Constitutional right to vote.
